The Superpower of My Incredible Family

The Superpower of My Incredible Family

‘Mummy, you can fly and I’m going to run really fast”

“Ok honey, where shall we go?”

“America, no Colyton, no, actually we’re going to Heaven”

“I think you mean Devon babe.”

Another play session which ended with a very deep and meaningful conversation about the circle of life and how Heaven isn’t actually a physical place where we can go visit unless,

or is it?

Oh crikey, not even going to go there.

Anyway, that was our role play for the day which had been the norm for the last few days since the arrival of a box of Incredibles 2 toys from the Disney Store. ( do check it out, the range is an absolute must if you’ve been to see the movie, these toys really stir some imaginative play!)

Does your family have a superpower? We've all got our physical thing but as a family, we're amazingly resilient

I do quite like the idea of being a superhero, that’s the beauty of parenthood, you can slip back into the amazing and imaginative world of a child, escapism from the good, the bad and ugly which adulthood sometimes throws at you.

Does your family have a superpower? We've all got our physical thing but as a family, we're amazingly resilient

We’ve had a couple of movie nights this week as it’s the school summer holidays and all manner of routine has gone out the window. That’s when you get the best conversations too. The house is tidy, my work is done for the day, I’ve taxied the older boys to and from where they need to be. I’m a busy mum and often guilty of spinning too many plates, so moments like these; playing superheroes or cuddling up on the sofa are the times which ground me and remind me that these years are short, relax, enjoy my time with my kids and make simple, feel-good memories

We’ve had a quite a few changes to deal with over the last few years, but with each change in our little  unit we’ve grown as a family and I’ve no doubt that it’s built their resilience up for how to handle grown-up life. They know now that change isn’t always a bad thing, that they can handle it and to ride the storm then look for the rainbows. Good times will come.

That’s our superpower, resilence. Along with endless, unconditional love and seeing every change we experience as a positive and sticking together as a family.

whats your family superpower? we've all got our physical thing but as a family, we're resilient
