The Siblings Project – July

The Siblings Project – July

That’s a slight misconception as my husband is in the background of this siblings photo but getting snaps of all three of my boys are far and few between so it was this or nothing! I love this shot as it captures their personalities perfectly; Teenager’s ‘whatever / too cool for school’ Tween’s cheekiness and Baby R’s ‘I’m doing what ever they’re doing’ attitude. All looking at me as I shout “smile” for the umpteenth time on a weekend away.

These guys get so fed up with me and my constant request for photos but then love looking back on old ones so I pay no attention to their half baked  “not another photo” moans, as I know it’s just part of the photo pose routine now. Plus, as a photography loving mum, I have no intention of putting the camera down unless it falls into one of my golden rules of blogging.

It’s photos like these which remind me I must get in front of the camera more. I’m much happier behind the lens but in a recent review which I write for clothing boutique, Milk & Mummy I needed to get some action shots which just weren’t happening with my vain attempts at mirror selfies. And anyone else’s shots (both Tween & Daz had a go) couldn’t make it past my critical, technical eye.

So my challenge for the next couple of weeks is to get a full set siblings plus mum Melfie just so I can look back and prove I’m not always the face behind the lens, mum was there too.

O yes, I can relate to wishing you could take a picture of yourself the way you take it of others …. and the seeming lack of support for taking family pictures and the resulting enjoyment of it :-).

All the best with getting in the picture … a real challenge for me too. Really lovely moment captured too. 🙂 #MyCapturedMoment

Thank you, no one else in my family ever takes a photo, I always have to ask my husband to take one then I feel a plonker posing!

You should definitely get in the picture too! You’re kids are gorgeous – although I have a feeling they’d rather be called cool 😉 x #MyCapturedMoment

That’s so sweet, I’m sure they’d be happy with any compliment to be honest!

This is such a lovely photo. I agree you should definitely get in there too. Californianmuminlondon has a wonderful linky which I run on the first Monday of the month #Melfie if you’re interested. I love that linky as it actually gets me on the other side of the lense with my princesses.xx

I’ve linked up to a few melfies but not got the chance to get them all in one shot for a few months, definitely going to try soon though.

This is such a perfect photo, because it really does capture their different attitudes to the photo 🙂 Love it! My 9yo is definitely starting to fall in to the ‘don’t take my photo/cheeky’ tween phase!

Thanks Michelle, it’s a real capture of time right now.

A really cool photo. It feels very artsy – you can tell you’re a photographer. I’m just getting into trying to think more about how to ‘shoot’ my photos – I have all these ideas and when I try and ask hubby to take a picture of me it just all goes wrong. It could be the painful awkwardness that strikes me when a camera is pointed at me – but I’m always telling him he doesn’t get my vision! Ha, ha. Good luck getting that snap. #sundaystars

Thanks Jen, I am yet to get a good shot with me and the boys but like you say, I just look awkward in front of the lens!

I like that your hubby is at the back of this shot, all your boys together in one picture. To be honest it could be an album cover!! Your eldest looks so cool. Thank you so much for linking up to #MyCapturedMoment xx

Thanks Heledd, I spend all my time tying to get a good shot on my dslr camera and then get the ones like these which I’ve been trying to get for ages on my iPhone!

Having teenagers I can completely sympathise with the lack of enthusiasm for photo taking! However mine are girls so are continuously taking photos. Of themselves. In various selfie poses! Thanks for linking up with #sundaystars x

My teenager doesn’t even take selfies. It’s a case of grabbing them while you can!
