My Surprise Baby Shower – My Captured Moment

My Surprise Baby Shower – My Captured Moment

QWhen I was first pregnant, baby showers were unheard of, or they were to me anyway. Second time around, they were something you’d read about in Magszines, where celebrities gathered in an LA mansion gifting their famous friend with expensive baby items and drinking expensive champagne. It all looked very nice but pointless.

So while pregnant with Baby R, it never occurred to me that it would be something I’d be doing. Imagine my surprise when I walked into my Mum’s house on a sunny afternoon in April to find a huge bunch of lovely ladies waiting to surprise me with my own. (I actually thought I was going for a waddle with my cousins to offer some breastfeeding advice)

Turns out that baby showers are VERY nice and not in the slightest bit pointless! I was feeling quite low due to a bought of SPD leaving me in pain & unable to walk very far so the timing was perfect.

With an abundance of food, Pimms (for everyone but me!) and even a nappy cake, not to mention good company and LOADS of presents, it was a perfect afternoon.

My perfect captured moment.

baby shower, my captured moment

Ooooo! I has SPD with my last pregnancy almost 12 years ago, the memory still makes me wince. It does take some of the joy away especially when you want to nest and can’t flipping move! Ah what a lovely surprise, this is a lovely captured moment! X

I’ve been to a few now, it’s so nice to do especially at a time when you’re feeling fat & rubbish!

Oh what a lovely thing for your family and friends to organise. I never had a baby shower but I think I would’ve liked one as you can really share your excitement with the people who mean so much to you.

That is so lovely. When I was pregnant for the first time, a friend of mine organised a surprise one for me too! Completely unexpected and a really wonderful thing to do for someone x

Oh that’s amazing that they did that for you! I had one when I was pregnant the first time and I loved it. You look so happy and ‘glowing’ in that shot. Thanks for linking up to #MyCapturedMoment

I don’t usually like being centre of attention but the whole afternoon was lovely.
