My Sunday Photo // The man in the mirror

My Sunday Photo // The man in the mirror

We paid a visit to Castle Drogo, near Exeter in Devon last bank holiday Monday. The castle is under construction so it was quite a surreal experience, you entered through an area of scaffolding and as we wandered around, we struggled to understand what was going on in every room, I’m sure if we read the guide we’d have figured it out but we settled for the challenge trail they’d set for the children.

I took this photo of Daz and Baby R having a Harry Potter moment. as much a he tried to encourage him to look in the mirror, Baby R was too pre occupied with everything else in the room, even Daz’s wide eyed look of excitement couldn’t lure him to look in the mirror!

A Moment captured whilst visiting Castle Drogo in Devon

That is a brilliant photograph. Very young children tend not to have any interest in mirrors as they unaware of the concept of self. The really have no idea that the ‘person’ they are seeing is them.

No, I’m not worried as he’ll be a vain teenager in no time!

I can just imagine how much effort and energy went into trying to get the perfect shot. If it’s any consolation I think this shot is great, the wide eyes look adds character to the photo. It really works in B&W too, lots of texture

Thanks Tracey, Daz was trying everything to get him to look at his reflection to no avail

Love the black & white photo. I think a colour shot would have ruined the atmostphere. Doesn’t seemed as staged when they aren’t looking into the mirror, love photos that capture a random arty moment.
