Living Arrows – a rainy November play day

Living Arrows – a rainy November play day

Having a birthday in November always takes the edge off the gloom as the days shorten and the beauty of autumn fades and planning my weekend away to celebrate my big 4-0 (and my mum’s 60th) in a couple of weeks certainly took the edge off the few rainy days we’ve had this week.

Although I try to not let the weather defeat me by getting out and about come rain or shine, I’ve been feeling particularly tired the last few days so used it as an excuse to stay in doors and selflessly let the man do all the dog walks. (I’m so kind!) However, as a mum to a toddler this doesn’t always mean long lazy days on the sofa watching movies. Quite the opposite in fact. What it actually means is finding creative ways to entertain an inquisitive little boy who has very little interest in toys or TV.

Pinterest has come to my saviour many times before, but none more so than finding things to do when stuck indoors. Luckily we found a few quick activities on there which cost very little, if anything and also inspired me to write a blog post which I’ll be sharing at the end of the week. This photo was taken during a lively session with a tray of rice and lentils, the tell-tale sign being the stray grain of rice still lingering on his face!

Needless to say that the decking by my back door still harbours the evidence, it turns out birds and dogs aren’t as much of a fan as I thought they’d be!

He loves getting stuck in. It’s the tidying up that takes longer though.
