The Day School Was Out For EVER!

The Day School Was Out For EVER!

I remember my last day at primary school like it was yesterday, I remember the 10 second count down to 3.30pm, the party in the school library and the fluttery feeling that I knew life was about to change forever. There are no photos of my last day, no Facebook status updates and no well wishing text messages from family, heck I don’t think we even had a house phone at the time, but I still remember.

This lovely bunch of little people however, have most of the above along with an amazing lasting memory of their monumental last. After a fun-filled day of shirt signing and movies, they ended their week of lasts with a year 6 swim and afternoon tea on the beach. As much as they’re ready for the next phase of their lives, they’re still young enough and innocent enough to have fun and games with out the awkward pressures teenage years bring and I love how this photo captures how close they all are.

It’d be awesome to see this photo restaged, year after year, as a measure of how much they’ll all change, there are a few missing from the gang, so to have them all together would be awesome, but even if that never happens, just having this one as a memory for Tween is enough a reminder of the time when

School was out for summer, (primary) school was out for ever!

What a lovely photo! My younger son has just finished primary school too. It was a roller coaster of a day and I think his emotions clouded his enjoyment, even though they had lots of fun things to do. I love their innocence at this age and the way they can still enjoy quite childish activities. Give them a year and that will all have changed, so we have to treasure these memories.

I think that’s why I love this photo so much, it’s like the last time before they discover what a big bad world it is out there!

You’ll know the feeling well, it’s not really sunk in yet for me. It’ll be the lack of school runs in September when it finally does I think!

Thanks Merlinda, It was one of those photos where I didn’t realise how much I loved it until transferring it over to my pc.
