I had an epiphany the other day, whilst getting ready for bed. I’d bathed using my favourite essential oil based foam bath, moisturised my skin with a cream blended with natural oils and creams then used a natural deodorant. Nothing was different, it was the same routine I’d been following for the last 2 months. Only this time I glanced over at my reed diffuser and mentally noted that I needed to buy some more.
I love my home smelling good, I have a super sonic sense of smell, a gift (or a curse depending on how you look at it) which has never left since being pregnant with my first child. So I’m quite neurotic about making sure I’m treated with a pleasing aroma, and one which masks my lovely, bless him, dog. So I have many reed diffusers and candles scattered throughout my home
Only it suddenly struck me, I was doing everything I could to live as clean and natural lifestyle as possible and rid our home and lives of too many chemicals and yet it was synthetic, chemicals which were fragrancing my home. Something had to change, but that’s where I was stumped.
I’d tried oil burners in the past but leaving unattended candles burning is too risky with a toddler, boys prone to the odd rough housing and a bouncy spaniel but I wanted so desperately to have control over the aromas I could create around our home. That’s why the Organic Aromas essential oil diffusers caught my eye.
They silently nebulize essential oils using the Bernoullis Principle without heat or water and so maintaining the effects of essential oils with the advantage of being able to control how much oil you use. I found it got to work very quickly and using minimal oil, while filling the whole of my open plan living space with a delicate smell.
It came with a starter oil, but with bedtime looming I wanted to create a calm, relaxing atmosphere so it’s maiden voyage began with several drops of lavender. It’s quite intoxicating to watch in action as the small swirls of smoke whisp out of the funnel while a delicate light show of red, green and blue dance within the base of the glass reservoir.
Its kept up high on a shelf, for its own protection, where it sits like any other ornament but with the added function of helping me determine how I’d like my home to be smelling. we’ve used oils which have aided concentration, oils to rid the air of germs and oils to create a fresh summer scent while the clouds and rain threaten to dampen the day.
Our nifty little mood creator has fast become a much used feature and taken us one step further in our clean living makeover.
I was gifted an Organic Aromas diffuser for the purpose of this review. As always, all words and photography are my own.
