Life as a mum to three boys and a dog is fab, I love it and wouldn’t change it for the world. But it also comes with varying degrees of mess, that’s not to say that life with daughters would be any easier, I’m just sharing my own story. There’s no denying the fact that housework plays a big part in family life, if I don’t keep on top of it, then my humble abode starts to resemble something on par to a mini tornado sweeping through and that’s just on the surface.
My biggest bug bear though, is that we have no hall way, so unless the no shoes rule is adhered to, my carpets start to suffer. Even those last minute, I’ve forgotten something so I’ll run upstairs, will overtime start to show on my beloved beige Axminster carpets, which adorn the stars and upstairs bedroom. The quick trips from the log pile to the log burner drags in all sorts, over my living room rug and then there’s my inquisitive toddler, who loves nothing more than exploring the contents of my make up bag.
All this Culminates in the tell-tale sign of some serious carpet misuse which a vacuum cleaner can’t remove so an essential piece of kit in ensuring our family home is clean and hygienic is the Vax Dual Power Pro. As a Vax brand ambassador, I’ll be sharing my experience of how Vax products make life a little simple, and what better way to start than a product which will appeal to everyone.
If you’re wondering whether washing carpets is really necessary, surely a decent vacuum cleaner will do the job effectively, just by going over with a Vax Dual Power pro will let you know all you need. It’s actually quite embarrassing when you see the colour of the liquid being lifted from what you think is a perfectly clean carpet. To think that my toddler plays on that, and the Tween and Teenager will lie down and watch movies.
I always like to think I’m a clean person and I can keep the wooden floors hygienic with a mop and steamer, but just seeing the difference that a carpet washer makes has made me realise that all was not as it seems!
So now you know why I feel the need to wash my carpets, it’s onto the important stuff, my review of the Vax Dual Power Pro.
Arriving in a large cardboard box, it took me under 4 minutes to unpack and assemble the machine, I needed no tools as it came in 3 pieces which slot together. You get 2 bottles of solution and some extra attachments which so far, I’ve used for the stairs and to tackle some make up stains (apparently my Benefit make up set is really appealing to toddlers!)
At first glance, it looks like an ordinary upright vacuum cleaner. Making it easier to store, that’s quite a big factor for me as there’s very little storage space left in the Nutshell crib.
Filling up is easy as you can either remove the tank and take it to the sink to fill with warm water, or keep in place and use a measuring jug. This particular washer has a wash and a rinse option so it keeps the water separate from the cleaning solution which is great if you don’t use it all, you can preserve some for your next cleaning session. And other than the water/solution trigger, which is on the handle, the release and on/off buttons are at the bottom, which you operate with your feet.
Being a busy household, having a dry function is a must, I managed to grab an hour between cleaning and the school home time which was perfect, as it felt slightly damp after washing but was completely dry by the time the boys came home. To clean this rug, it took all 15 minutes from filling up, wash and a rinse.
So, does it work?
Will the Vax Duel Power Pro will it really give my carpets a deep clean?
Well check out the not very appealing image below which is the result of washing of our living room rug, and testament to it’s power, not only did it clean, it also brought up some ground in dog hair (nice) leaving it smelling a lot fresher too!
I was sent a Vax carpet washer to review, all words and photographs are entirely my own.
