And so it begins…Thanks to one perfect Christmas tree

And so it begins…Thanks to one perfect Christmas tree

When you’re busy, the shear thought of preparing for Christmas fills you with dread. I barely have time to put the washing out on a good day, let alone buy presents, decorate the house and plan a feast fit for  a king. To say I’ve been a little bar humbug about Christmas this year is an understatement, which is highly unusual for a festive fairy like me.

I usually embrace the whole build up and preparations with open arms, you see. Just thinking about wrapping presents by the log burner, while eating mince pies and listening to Michael Bublé serenade me, sends my heart racing. But this year it’s not happening, or should I say, wasn’t happening.

A few weeks of being bogged down with a house of sickness, I just wasn’t  ready to festive up. And then it happened; I arrived home to a delivery, signed off by my lovely neighbour, from Christmas Tree delivery company Pines and Needles, which unbeknown to me, would kick-start my Christmas happy.

We’ve not had a real Christmas tree in years, 15 to be precise. Not having the means to transport it was the main stumbling block. The last time my overly keen husband wedged a 6 footer in our Renault Clio, leaving us still pulling pine needles out of the upholstery 6 months later. But I was ready, ready to take on the responsibility of caring for a tree, welcoming it into our home and dressing it with the finery only a real life tree deserved.

I was also holding out for the needles putting our inquisitive toddler off a constant stream of attacks, and just the idea of having the tree delivered straight to our house took the delivery-stress out of the equation.

As our tree, a non drop, Nordmann Fir, was carefully secured in place, we sat back and watched it unfold and take its shape. Unassuming wrapped in its red delivery bag, we weren’t sure what to expect. Our Christmas tree spot sits in the front room bay window and it soon transpired that our Pines and Needles tree was going to be the perfect fit. Wrapping the lights around, we stood back and admired it in all it’s glory.

This was our tree, and so it happened, my Christmas spirit returned.

It also stirred some magic in the little one;

 The Nordmann Fir is a premium non drop Christmas tree, boasting child friendly qualities with it’s soft and long lasting needles which we soon found out, it hasn’t deterred the Toddler from some epic fiddling sessions, but has also meant that walking round barefoot hasn’t been a problem. I’m not complaining though, as it’s exceeded our expectations, and some.

So as I sit here, sharing my thoughts on the idea of getting a Christmas tree delivered, straight to your door, with my show stopper twinkling in the background. I’m feeling ready, let Christmas begin…..

    Wow! What a gorgeous tree! I love the smell of fresh pine. I can’t wait until we live in a bigger house and can fit one in!

    I have not heard of this company but oh wow, I need such a tree in my life. I think I would even keep it up way past the festive period. Having it delivered hope is the best thing ever.

    Wow, what a beautiful tree! It looks so lovely. We haven’t had a real tree in about 10 years and, although I love our fake tree, I do miss the smell. Candles just aren’t the same….

    • 10th December 2015 / 6:43 am

      I totally agree, I try other Christmas smells but coming into to be greeted by the smell of real pine is fab.

    Gorgeous – putting up the tree always starts Christmas for me too. Although this year we’re moving so we don’t have a tree yet as either it would have to come down right before Christmas or we’ll need to get one on about December 23. (if we’;ve unpacked the baubles!) I think I need a substitute…

    Oh wow that tree looks amazing. It sounds like a great service. I love how full it looks. I would love a real tree and I have been promised one for next year so may have to give Pines and Needles ago. Thanks for sharing.

      I really haven’t seen any other real trees as perfect as this one, it’s a real luxury.
