The sun was out, the sky was blue, so we did what any normal person living in a seaside village did, we popped down the beach.
I’m conscious now that I sometimes stir up a little beach envy whenever I post seaside photos. Honestly, I’m not looking for “look at my lovely seaside village” bragging rights, it’s just that this is pretty much all you can do unless you want to jump in the car and drive somewhere.
The best thing about living in by the sea is that on a sunny, summer day you can take the kids to the beach and guarantee that there will be other’s down there for them to play with. It’s a lazy play date without phone calls and text message. And even better is that age is no barrier, who ever’s around will do and imaginations thrive. With no wifi (I don’t even have 3g to tempt me to go on my phone) it’s pure back-to-basics play time from splashing around in the sea for hours on end to building dens with beach towels.
I’m hoping for many more long summer days down here, it’s not just the boys who need prising away from their screens, it’s nice for me to be away from the temptation of emails and social media for a while, even if it costs me the odd ice-cream or 2.
