A Review Of The Scruffs Expedition Thermo Gilet

A Review Of The Scruffs Expedition Thermo Gilet

When you work outside, like my husband does the majority of the time, the right clothing for what ever the weather throws at you is a must. He usually goes out layered up so he can adjust to our unpredictable British weather or whatever job he’s doing, with a bulky gilet onto top.

While I’m no outdoor manual labourer (except for when I’m wrestling a toddler into a pushchair) I can imagine that having an overly padded jacket is quite annoying at the best of times, not to say restricting. Which explains why he jumped at the chance to swap it for a Scruffs Expedition Thermo gilet.

Scruffs Hardwear is a brand specialising in mens and women’s workwear and safety footwear, be it weekend DIY or like my husband, when doing a manual job. He’s a fan as they tend to be loaded with functional features; like the cleverly designed cuffs on some of their jackets which have been designed to stop rubble, dust and debris from going up your arm?

Cleverly Designed Pockets

A particular favourite if his are the pockets which help him keep everything he needs close at hand. Great for when he’s at the top of a tree. The Scruffs Expedition Thermo gilet has two side pockets as well as an outer zipped top pocket.

I questioned whether he’d have preferred the top one to have been on the inside but was told “absolutely no.”  It would mean having to constantly zip down the gilet each time he needed something, which was not only annoying when wearing gloves, he would be loosing body heat.

The rubber zip tags mean that as well as having a good grip and not slipping through your fingers like a metal one, you can use them when wearing gloves as they’re big enough to grab hold of.

Scruffs Expedition Offers Protection From The Elements

One thing he is never a fan of with coats is a hood, but the one on the Scruffs Expedition thermo gilet is large enough to go over the top of his faithful beanie and light enough to not annoy him. The whole jacket is feather light but surprisingly warm as the Thinsulate material makes a great insulator against the cold and wind. Meaning there’s no restriction of movement. scruffs 4

A review of a Scruffs Expedition Thermo gilet. My husband tells me this is the best one he's owned, as he works outside he needs something which doesn't restrict his movements and this one is light and still warm with cleverly designed features
