Why You Need Positivity & Motivation For A Healthy Body & Mind

Why You Need Positivity & Motivation For A Healthy Body & Mind

I’m finishing my health feature week with a collection of some inspirational blogs and websites for you to check out. Think of it as my care package to send you on your way.

This diversity of health related information consists of things I’ve found helpful and I hope you do too, my other reason for sharing is to inspires anyone hitting the new year resolution lull which occasionally happens around now, when the buzz from a change in lifestyle has fizzled out and you start slipping subtly ( or magnificently!) back into your old ways.

So how does my care package work?

Well. <dramatic pause> in order to ensure you have a healthy lifestyle, that you’re living life to the full and not bogged down with illness, you need both a healthy body as well as a healthy mind. There’s little point in changing your diet, doing more exercise or giving up smoking if you’re not in the right frame of mind or seeing the benefits emotionally.

When you’re stressed or unhappy stress hormones floods your body and their harmful toxins presents in the most physical of ways;

a pain in the neck, a pain in the bum or a thorn in your side.

You’ve heard these sayings, I’m sure, and that’s exactly where they’ve come from. The physical effects of stress can be felt as a pain where all the toxins gather, telling you to there’s something no quite right.

When babies are under stress, when they’re left to cry for hours on end and basic needs of love and affection aren’t there, cortisol washes over their brains like an acid wash, damaging essential brain connections which can never be replaced. (Luckily research has found that babies who are held when they cry don’t release the same amount of cortisol) For more information on this read Sue Gerhardt’s Why Love Matters.

basically, stress sucks.

So if you’re in need of a mental makeover and some positivity to help you on your way, these inspirational reads should help lower your stress and fuel both your body and mind while keeping you in the right frame of mind to keep those new year resolutions on track.

First up is The Joy Chaser – what’s your word? I’ve followed Michelle’s advice and my word for the year is ‘grow’,  I’m where I want to be right now, I just need to get better. 2015  for me was all about new beginnings and now I’ve completed my phase 1 it’s onto phase 2. In this amazing post Michelle talk you through the ways to find your word.

Conquers and Bonkers is a new positivity inspired Facebook page from the lady who I have so much to thank for. Without the encouraging words of comedy hat and life-loving Sue I wouldn’t be writing this at all. And at last she’s sharing them now with everyone! (Everyone needs a Sue in their life, so I’m sharing mine.)

Honest Mum is a beacon for women having it all, her drive, encouragement and success as a working mum is quite something. As well as lust worthy recipes and weekends away, Vicky often shares wise words on a manner of subjects, her post on How to stop worrying what others think will really get you changing your out look on life.

For a complete package of healthy body and a healthy mind, Zaz over on Mama and More will have you looking and feeling good in one shot. Her yoga philosophy inspired posts really get out thinking  in a manner that’s as equally positive as it is philosophical. If you ever need to build self esteem and self worth, you’ll find the right words, and some.

And finally is a new blog find for me and one which I am all over right now; Elizabeth’s Kitchen Diary, A food blog written from the wild and remote Shetland Islands sharing wholesome recipes and amazing photos from a most stunning part of the world. If anything, it will leave you wanting to sell everything you own and move to a simpler way of life. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

So there you go. On your way, keep smiling and remember;

A positive attitude

will lead to positive outcomes.

healthy body, healthy mind, some inspirational blogs to help keep stress at bay and new year resolutions on track.

    Thank you for introducing me to some amazing bloggers and FB pages, which I haven’t come across before. It’s so easy to get bogged down by the day-to-day and to really struggle to find the big picture. I think surrounding yourself with “real” people who inspire and dazzle is so amazingly helpful. Thanks for helping me add new names to my list
